VERNA: Baba Boys Verna defeated United Boys of Poriebhat 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter the final of the All Nagoa-Verna late Benjamin Barretto football tournament, played at Village Panchayat Sports Complex, Verna, on Saturday.
Both teams started the match on an attacking mode.
Rayzer Braganza of United Boys shot from the top of the Baba Boys box in the second minute but the rival goalkeeper saved it.
United Boys Rayzer Braganza on collecting a pass from Cyrus Noronha slammed a power packed left footer, which crushed into the net of Baba Boys in the 4th minute.
Minutes later, a counter attack by Dasman Abranches of Baba Boys should have levelled terms but Anthony Rego of United Boys blocked his move in the tenth minute.
Baba Boys dominated the second half as they constantly raided the opposition territory in search of the equalising goal.
It was looking like United Boys almost booked their berth in the final but a sudden move from the centre by Nicholas Colaco cost United Boys dearly with a equaliser in the last few seconds of the second half 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Baba Boys Verna proved to be better shooters.
Baba boys Verna will meet Active Boys of Sonarvaddo Nagoa in the final on May 28.
