RAIA: In a hard-fought battle, Bardez Veterans thrashed Chinchinim Veterans 3-0 in the inaugural match to move into the next round of Sesa Vedanta Awes Veterans tournament at Sinquetim ground, Navelim, on Sunday.
Cyrid D’Souza’s shot for Bardez Veterans was fumbled by Chinchinim’s keeper, leading to an opportunity for Anthony Fernandes, but he missed the target. Claudio Pacheco’s long-range attempt was saved by Chinchinim’s keeper, while Aldrin Lobo and Urbano Fernandes also had their chances.
The first half ended goalless, but in the second half, Bardez Veterans took control. A corner by Jackie Rodrigues led to a header by Seby Da Costa, breaking the deadlock. Narendra Gad added another with a long-range strike, and Alexander Fernandes sealed the 3-0 victory for Bardez Veterans.
