RAWANFOND-NAVELIM: Dempo Sports Club defeated Corps of Signals 1-0 in the GFA Goa Professional League match at 3MTR Corps of Signal ground, Navelim on Monday.
Beevan D’Mello scored 90+5th minute match-winner to help Golden Eagles register a solitary goal win.
Dempo SC’s Mathew Gonsalves were sent off in the second half injury time following his double bookings just before they could score the match-winner.
The win takes Dempo SC to 23 points from 11 games while Signals stay on seven points.
Playing at their fortress, Signals had the first chance but Lairellakpam Nolkul Singh saw his effort sail over the Dempo Sports Club crossbar.
In the 29th minute, Joaquim Abranches almost broke into the rival box, but before the former FC Goa player could pull the trigger, Signals’s Aditya D’Cruz thwarted the danger.
However, Abranches was a constant threat to the opponents as he continuously creatd chances for his team. He came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half injury time but failed to keep his composure infront of the rival goal.
In the second half, Signals dominated the initial stages of the game with substitute Huidrom Surjit Singh marshalling the midfield.
In the dying minutes of the game, Dempo SC skipper received marching orders for his second booking and later Beevan D’Mello scored the match-winner with a placement shot.
