MARGAO: Bresources Betalbatim Sporting Club demolished Youth Club of Manora 6-0 in the Salcete Zone GFA Under-14 football tournament, at Velsao ground, Sunday.
Betalbatim Sporting Club led 3-0 at lemon break.
Coach Eban Mesquita did well to produce a solid combine performance and garner three full points.
Betalbatim took off in an attacking mode and maintained the momentum right through strikers Joelbert Almeida and Jowin D’Souza. They worked well with midfielders Newton Fernandes and Max Colaco to put the rivals under tremendous pressure. Joelbert opened the scoring in the early moments of the game. Jowin and Max scored a piece in quick successions to give his team 3-0 cushion.
After the break, Betalbatim did not lose appetite for more goals. Newton, Alarit D’Cunha and Rishab Kumar added miseries to rival woes by scoring a goal each.
At DYSA ground, Curtorim Gymkhana came from behind to hold Guardian Angel Sports Club to a 1-1 draw. Curtorim Gymkhana were trailing 0-1 at the breather. Guardian Angel dominated the opening session and pushed their opponents on the defensive. Persistent forays bore the fruit and in the 13th minute Lincoln Colaco beat the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
Spurred by the early success, Guardian Angel put Curtorim Gymkhana on the mat and could have scored more goals but their forwards squandered chances.
Crossing over, Guardian Angel slackened their pace and allowed their opponents to launch the attacks. With time running out, Curtorim Gymkhana made a last ditch efforts and neutralized the lead through the boots of Stanley Fernandes in the 35th minute..
