Both the teams made a positive start as they matched each other evenly in the barren first half.
Kingslee Fernandes of Betalbatim SC shot straight into the rival keeper hands in the 7th minute. Rossman Cruz through Savio Fernandes came back strongly with a counter move in the 10th minute and had a clear chance to forge ahead midway in the first half but their striker shot the ball over the bar from close distance.
Betalbatim SC Frazier Antao shot wide in the 38th minute while Savio Fernandes of Rossman Cruz move was foiled by the rival defender inside the box in the 40th minute.
In the 45th minute Klusner Pereira of Betalbatim SC was red carded by the match referee Rosario Fernandes for using abuse language on the field.
Frazier Rogatao scored the match winner for Betalbatim SC of Vijaj Rego’s deflection of Rossman Cruz in the 50th minute.
MLA Velim Constituency Benjamin Silva was the chief guest
and gave away the winner’s trophy and cash prize of Rs 30,000 while the runners-up took home Rs 20,000 and the trophy.
Fr Bruno Leitao, former ZP member Anthony Babush Rodrigues, and Cruz Silva were also present.
