CHANDOR: Betalbatim SC edged past Sao Jose de Areal 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Friday.
Betalbatim Sports Club drew first blood through Naison D’Cunha in the fourth minute. At the half-time, Betalbatim SC held on to this lead.
In the second half, Sao Jose de Areal SC put pressure on the Betalbatim citadel, and were rewarded in the 36th minute when Vellinton Faleiro connected a perfect corner taken by Stalen Oliveira and levelled terms.
In the battle that ensued, Betalbatim SC surged ahead through Brenson Fernandes in the 59th minute.
