MARGAO: Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal prevailed over Fr Agnel High School, Pilar 5-2 via the tie-breaker to advance into the second round of Fr Peter memorial inter-school football tournament, organized by SVD Seminary, Raia, at SVD ground, Sunday.
Both the teams were tied 2-2 at full time.
In an exciting encounter, both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer. Shelton Fernandes struck the brace for Bethany Convent while Priston Carvalho and Ashley Cardozo were the goal getters for Fr Agnel.
In the ensuing penalty shoot out, Shelton, Oswald and Sezwin were on target for Bethany Convent while none converted from Fr Agnel.
In another match, St Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor defeated Loyola High School, Margao 2-0. Both the goals were scored by Darren Fernandes.
