Bethany, St Joseph in title clash

Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal will meet St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor in the finals of Salcete Taluka Under-17 DYSA inter-school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Manora ground, Raia on Monday.
In the semi-finals, Bethany Convent demolished Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna, 3-1. There was no score at half time.
In the second session, Bethany Convent dominated the proceedings and put their opponents on the defensive.
Ashwin Travasso opened the scoring soon after resumption with a firm grounder.
Maruti Kambli and Raymond Fernandes scored a goal each while Jose Vaz managed to pull one back for Fr Agnel.
In another match, St Joseph, Chandor swamped Auxilium Convent, Benaulim 4-1. The highlight of the day was a four-goal blitz including a hat-trick by Mevlon Moura. Shilton Fernandes reduced the margin for Auxilium.
