MARGAO: Riding on the superb left-arm spin bowling by Prallav Kerkar with figures of 5-20, Bhatikar Model High School, Margao defeated archrivals Mahila Nutan High School, Margao by 32 runs to clinch the Salcete taluka under-17 inter-school cricket tournament organized by DSYA, at SAG practice ground, Fatorda.
They created a record by winning the tournament for the sixth time in a row.
Batting first, Bhatikar Model scored 115 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs and then dismissed Mahila Nutan for just 83 runs with Kunal Naik Gaonkar cracking 38 runs. He was well supported by Dighesh Raikar, who remained unbeaten at 35 runs.
For Mahila Nutan, Siddhant Kunde and Aniruddha Bhat shared one wicket each.
In reply, Mahila Nutan were bundled out at 83 in 15 overs. Kanishk Masurkar top scored with 26 runs. For Bhatikar Model, Pallav Kerkar was the wrecker-in-chief scalping five wickets for 20 runs.
