RAIA: Bhatti Sports Club edged out Novowaddo Sports Club 6-4 via tie-breaker to enter the semi-finals of 9-a-side football tournament organised by Sporting Club Virabhat at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
Match started on slow pace due to rainy conditions and both teams tried to take control of the game, while Novowaddo SC scored the first goal through Milagres Fernandes with a neat placement before half time.
Bhatti SC regrouped quickly and took control in the second session and got the much needed equaliser through the boots of Marcus Peixeto before full time and made way for penalty shoot out to decide the winner.
In resultant tie-breaker Bhatti SC scored through Jovial dias, Maven Dias, Macnal Dias, Tony and Aaron Dias, while Novowaddo SC found the net through Alister, Frazer and Milagres Fernandes. Macnal Dias received the man-of-match award for his outstanding performance, which was presented by Baptista Fernandes.
