PANJIM: Bidesh XI downed Churchill Brothers FC 2-1 in the inaugural match of the GFA-Vedanta Women’s League football played at Assonora ground, at Saturday.
Ansiva Vaz scored the match-winner for Bidesh XI after Churchill Brothers’ Alisha Tavares had cancelled Chetna Tirodkar’s 15th minute lead.
In the second match played at Duler Stadium, under floodlights, Albert Developers defeated PVC Parra by a solitary goal.
Albert Developers dominated the game and didn’t take long to take the lead as Sushmita Jadhav scored the goal in the fifth minute of the first half.
In the second half, PVC matched their opponents. Cia created ample of chances but none were converted.
The match was played well n dominated by both the teams in the second half.
Albert’s Shanti was the solid rock in the defence.
Earlier, the 3rd GFA Vedanta league was inaugurated by Carol Gomes, chairperson of GFA women’s committee. An aerobic display was presented by the students of Our Lady of Rosary High School, Dona Paula.
A dance by the primary students of Our Lady of Grace High School, Bicholim was also performed.
