FATORDA: It was a night to remember for the 15,000 odd spectators to witness their most beloved footballing Nation —Brazil dance their way past Niger 2-0 in the ultimate Group D match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday.
The samba boys enthralled the Goan crazy football fans with their tactical brilliances and dominating play. Two first half strikes from Lincoln and Brenner were enough for the Samba Boys to top the group ahead of Spain.
Starting brightly Brazil sent the crowd on their feet in the fourth minute, when Lincoln tapped in Paulinho low cross from the right in the 4th minute.
The Brazilians were creating problems for Niger as they attacked in numbers in the first half before they doubled the lead when Brenner guided his free kick past the helpless keeper which took a heavy deflection off a Niger player before entering the nets. Coming into the second half, the Brazil played much slower game which saw them play possession football.
Brazil coach admitted his side were tired against Niger, “The weather here was hot, warm and humid which made it difficult for us to play. Our players were little tired in second half.” Carlos explained.
