VELIM: CAC Cansaulim defeated Sao Jose de Areal 9-8 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Velim Panchayat Cup organised by Sports and Welfare Club Zaino-Velim, at St Francis Xavier Church ground, Velim, on Thursday.
Alison Kamotin opened the account for Sao Jose de Areal in the first minute while Daryl Costa scored a brace for Areal netting a goal each in the 8th and 23rd minutes respectively.
CAC Cansaulim pulled a goal back in the 30th minute through Veron Fernandes. At half-time the scores read 3-1 in favour of Sao Jose de Areal.
Post resumption, Sao Jose de Areal’s Samuel Costa made it 4-1 in the 53rd minute before CAC Cansaulim’s Veron Fernandes scored a brace netting a goal each in the 58th and 60th minutes respectively.
The Cansaulim side later scored the equaliser through Domnic Soares.
In the resultant tie-breaker CAC Cansaulim proved to be better shooters. CAC Cansaulim will meet Maina SC in the final on June 3.
