Caculo down Don Bosco, move into semis

PANJIM: Caculo College, Mapusa bounced back from a goal down to beat last year’s runners-up Don Bosco College, Panjim 6-5 via sudden death to move into the semi-finals of the ACF Trophy 2015 organized by Herald Group in association with Syngenta India Pvt Ltd.

It was Don Bosco College who took the lead in the 10th minute of the first half. Winger Sydney Rodrigues played a defence splitting pass to striker Razor Braganza who did well to move past a defender and squared the ball to fellow striker Mark D’Souza, who easily tapped the ball into the net to make it 1-0.
Just when Don Bosco College looked like they were bound to score another goal Caculo College had a ray of hope when the match official awarded them a Penalty.
 Defender Heramb Prabhugaonkar fouled a Caculo player in the penalty. The match official showed no hesitation and awarded the penalty. Shashank Ashvekar steeped in to take the resultant spot kick and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 1-1 for Caculo College. 
Caculo College’s striker Arjun Shetgaonkar lacked conviction on two occasions much to the dismay to his team.
Post resumption, Don Bosco almost took the lead but striker Mark D’Souza misjudged a header and shot wide off the target. With 10 minutes remaining a defensive lapse by Don Bosco College almost cost the Panjim based team, but striker Arjun could not provide his team with the required finish. 
In the resultant tie-breaker, which went to sudden death, Caculo College proved to be better shooters winning 6-5.
