GOA VELHA: Calangute Association scored a hard fought 6-4 tie-breaker win over hosts Goa Velha Sports Club to move into the semi-finals of the 11th London Trophy, organised by Goa Velha SC and played at Goa Velha SC ground, on Tuesday.
Blake Haldankar put Calangute Association ahead early in the second half after he got past a couple of defenders and shot home. Goa Velha Sports Club pressed for the equaliser and were rewarded with a spot kick after Chatur Naik was fouled in the box by the Calangute keeper. Off the resultant penalty kick, Jyotesh Palkar easily converted to net the equaliser. The match ended 1-1 In the tie-breaker, Calangute scored through Ashley Lobo, Rajkumar Naik, Joaquim Gonsalves, Aniket Mandrekar, and Deep Govekar while Goa Velha were successful through Jyotesh Palkar, Suraj Hadkonkar and Nikesh Mangueshkar.
