Calangute Association who missed out on qualification after losing their last season’s final match of the First Division, 1-0 to Vasco Sports Club only found their way in the top flight after Wilred Leisure Sports Club withdrew their participation from the Goa Pro League.
However, with little time on their side, Calangute Association took up the challenge with the help of the Calangute Panchayat, their sponsors.
Several key players have left Churchill Bros having been relegated to the Second Division I-League for their failure to fulfil the stringent Club Licensing criteria. This has added to Calangute Association’s advantage and head coach Gavin Araujo is confident to take home three points. “The players have promised the supporters to deliver the needed results and I am sure they will work hard and give more then 100% in every match.”
On the other hand, Churchill have a young squad as well and are training hard under their new Nigerian head coach Joseph Afusi.
