10 students injured in bus mishap at Pilerne

PORVORIM: Ten school students were injured when a KTC school bus turned on its side near Pilerne Panchayat on Wednesday morning.

Porvorim police said the a KTC bus carrying 30 students from Porvorim was proceeding towards Betim-Verem to drop then in Kendriya Vidhalaya at Verem, on today morning.
Police further informed that since there was traffic jam near the Verem junction, the bus driver went ahead towards Pilerne and proceeded towards Kendriya Vidhyalaya at Verem.
Police further informed that enroute, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus turned on its side in the field near Pilerne Panchayat. On hearing the cries of the school students, the villagers rushed to the site and safely removed the students from the bus.
Porvorim police rushed to the spot and shifted 10 students, who had sustained minor injuries, to Goa Medical College at Bambolim for medical treatment. While nine students were discharged, one student, Harshad Satardekar, was being treated till late Wednesday evening.

Porvorim police have registered an offence against the bus driver for negligent driving and Hawaldar Suresh Dessai is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that on July 28, about 29 passengers, mostly comprising students, were injured when a speeding minibus rammed into a tree at Deuswada-Hivre in Sattari taluka, while on July 30, about seven passengers were injured when a private bus dashed against a KTC school bus near Teen Building Junction at Porvorim.
