Goalkeeper Agnelo’s heroics helped Calangute Association score a hard fought solitary goal victory over Margao Sports Club in GFA’s First Division League match at Poriat ground, Calangute on Wednesday.
Calangute began on a promising note and took the lead in the 18th minute through Pedro Gonsalves off a cross by Sadab Shaikh.
Stung by the reverse, Margao fought back and kept attacking the Calangute citadel time and again but their forwards failed to find the net.
Calangute’s keeper Agnelo too came to his side’s rescue a couple of times. Calangute were lucky to survive the onslaught from the Margao boys time and again to gather full points.
