MARGAO: Cana Benaulim Sporting Association blanked hosts Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 2-0 to march into the final of All-Goa 33rd Sao Jose de Areal all-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club, at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, Saturday. Cana Beanulim Sporting Association led 1-0 at half time.
Benaulim’s breakthrough came in the 10th minute when Sao Jose de Areal defender Bersel Viiegas while trying to avert the danger put the ball in his own net.
Post resumption, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club expected to come back into the game and their forwards unleashed a couple of pot shots against the rival goal but yielded no results.
Sunny Rodrigues sealed the rival fate late in the second half when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Cana Benaulim Sporting Association will now meet Curtorim Gymkhana in the final on October 26.
