Canacona trounce Dicarpale; Areal win

Canacona Sports Academy hammered Dicarpale Sports Club 5-1 in GFA Third Division League at Dramapur ground on Monday. Canacona were leading 3-0 at half time.
Canacona dominated the proceedings right from the start with their forwards constantly raiding the rival defence.
Dicarpale struggled throughout, as the pace of their opponents was difficult to handle and humbled themselves without any fight.
Loreen Lobo fired home in the ninth minute with a snap shot. He struck a second time in the 33rd minute.
After taking the 2-0 cushion, Canacona did not lose their appetite for goals as Gosavi Fernandes increased their tally with a stiff shot at the strike of lemon break.
Crossing over, Canacona relaxed their game but did not allow their rivals to strike rhythm and began to torment them with orchestrated raids.
In the 56th minute, Dicarpale secured their consolation goal through Wilson Dias. Prakash Dhuri added his name to the scoresheet by netting his first goal and the team’s fourth in the 72nd minute.
Gosavi Fernandes drove the last nail into Dicarpale’s coffin in the 80th minute to complete his brace.
At Curtorim ground, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club thumped St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda 7-1 after leading 3-1 at half time.
Sao Jose enjoyed the lion share of exchanges and outplayed their opponents in all the departments. Connie Fernandes put Sao Jose into the lead in the 18th minute. Oliver Andrade doubled the lead in the 28th minute with a snap shot.
With Sao Jose taking it easy and allowing their rivals to penetrate into the rival territory, St Anthony’s succeeded in scoring their consolation goal through Roque Fernandes. Connie Dias made it 3-1 at the stroke of lemon break.
Connie struck once again in the 66th and 80th minutes. Oliver who was on song too, struck twice in the 69th and 74th to complete the rout.
With this win, Sao Jose de Areal topped Group C with 13 points from five matches and qualified for the play-offs while Sporting Club of Davorlim finished second with 11 points from the same number of encounters.
