NERUL: Candolim SC defeated St Anthony’s SC Marna-Siolim 5-4 via the tie-breaker to clinch the 23rd Nerul Panchayat Cup, at Nerul ground on Saturday.
St Anthony’s SC took the lead though Joel Fernandes in the first minute.
Post resumption, Candolim SC equalised though Suraj Kauthankar in the 48th minute.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Candolim SC netted through Suraj, Ryan, Melwin and Dwayne while Sangam, Pushparaj and Joel scored for St Anthony’s SC.
The winners were awarded Rs 30,000 while the runners-up bagged Rs 20,000 plus trophies.
Minister for Housing Board and RDA Jayesh Salgaocar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Rupesh Naik, Piedade Almeida, Sandesh Govekar, Chandan Shirodkar, Rohan Kalangutkar and other dignitaries.
