MAPUSA: Candolim Sports Club eased past Saligao United Sports Club 3-1 in the GFA’s 3rd Division League match (Bardez Zone), at Candolim ground, on Thursday.
Saligao put up a brave performance in the first half holding their rivals to a 1-1 draw.
It was Candolim who broke the deadlock in the 25th minute through Charles D’Souza but Saligao did not have to wait for long and found their equalizer in the very next minute through Taivan D’Souza.
On resumption, the home side stepped up the attack and fired in two goals through Joelief Simoes and Antonio Kunal.
At Chapora ground, St Anthony SC, Marna hammered Chapora Yuvak Sangh 6-0 win.
Vasudev Agarwadekar (2),Videsh Sawant, Aldric Fernandes, Kedar Dhargalkar and Manish Nair pumped in goals to ensure full three points to the visitors.
At Nachinola ground, Football Cub Sanquelim struggled before scoring a narrow 1-0 win over Augustias Sports Club. In the 18th minute, it was Nitesh Gaonkar who netted in the only goal of the match.
