TALEIGAO: In the first match of the day, Carmel College, Nuvem, defeated Dhempe College, Miramar, 3-0 in the Inter-Collegiate Women’s Football tournament being played at University ground.
In the first half Carmel College took an early lead in the 3rd minute through Mercy Baretto and later buttressed the lead through Elika D’Souza in the 15th minute leading 2-0 at half time. In the second half Jessney Fernandes sealed the victory for Carmel College.
In another match, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, clinched victory over Narayan Zantye College, Bicholim 2-0. In the first half GEC managed to score both goals which came from Velish C Gama in the 8th minute and Swayta S Belgaonkar in the 11th minute.
At Rosary ground Navelim, St Xavier’s College, Mapusa trounced Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona 7-0. St Xavier’s College through Pusha Parab (Hat-trick) Ishanka Mandrekar, Sujata Naik (2) and Namita Govekar.
In another match, Don Bosco College, Panjim drubbed VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar 8-0. The first half saw a full domination by Don Bosco College scoring five goals through Karen Estrocio (4) Khalida Kachavi Aqsa Sayed, Manish Salgaocar and Jocelyn Carvalho.
Fr Agnel College, Pilar defeated Institute of Nursing, Bambolim 5-0. Francy Carvalho, Luanna Fernandes, Diksha Mashelkar, Sania Lucas and Shriti Vishwakarma scored for Fr Agnel.
