MARGAO: Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim continued their splendid form by stunning Salgaocar Football Club 2-1 in the Goa Pro League match, at Cuncolim ground, on Saturday.
All the goals were scored in the first half.
Cavelossim moved up with 23 points while Salgoacar FC are on 19 points.
The Severino Fernandes outfit enforced with local talent drew first blood when a cross from Marcus Fernandes saw Joel Fernandes finishing with a deft placement in the 30th minute as Salgaocar FC keeper Pravin Kumar was left hapless.
However, The Greens came back strongly and equalized when a free-kick by Leny fell in the path of Doyel D’Silva, who nodded in from close range to make it 1-1.
As the match progressed, Cavelossim regained the lead when Joshua Vaz dribbled past three Salgoacar FC players and set up Melvin Fernandes, who calmly chested down the ball and finished neatly to make it 2-1.
In the second half, Cavelossim continued their domination but failed to increase the margin while Salgaocar FC tried hard to crawl back into the match but Cavelossim keeper Ram Saroop left them frustrated.
