MAPUSA: CDJ Ribandar (Albert Developers) scored a hard fought 3-2 win over Assonora United to clinch the 7th Reis Magos Inter-Village Cup, at Panchayat ground, Ambekhand Verem, on Sunday.
Both sides played their hearts out and went into the breather with Assonora leading 2-1.
Ribandar took the lead in the 5th minute of play when Jayendra Kunkolienkar nodded in Minesh Kunkolienkar’s curling corner kick.
Assonora did not waste much time and three minutes later levelled terms through Milind Shinde, who guided in Rajesh Salgaocar’s pass.
Moments before the breather, Assonora managed to forge ahead when Milind sent his corner towards unmarked Prajot Arabekar –who scored through a firm header, 2-1.
Crossing over the Ribandar outfit pressed hard and managed to level terms in the 39th minute of play through Octavia Miranda –who scored off a goal mouth melee 2-2.
The match winning goal for Ribandar came in the 55th minute when Mossain Salia tapped in the ball on being set up by Octavia, 3-2.
At halftime chief guest Minister for Tourism, Ports, Women and Child Development Dilip Parulekar, guest of honour Rupesh Naik Zilla Panchayat- Reis Magos Constituency and other dignitaries were introduced to the players and match officials.
The winners were richer by Rs 55,555 and trophy while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 33,333 and a trophy.
