MARGAO: Siblings Chandan Caro and Pradnya Caro clinched double crowns each at the Naguesh-Sushila Verenkar Memorial All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, held at Chandor Club in collaboration with the Goa Table Tennis Association. The tournament was one of the selection tournaments for the Nationals.
Aaron Farias, Yug Prabhu, Ishita Colaso, and Sachi Dessai were the other winners of the day, securing titles in their respective categories. Inara Dsouza, Kavish Dalvi, Aayushi Amonkar, Dhruva Kamat, and Neeza Kamat finished as runners-up.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Fr Mario Noronha, Assistant Parish Priest of Grace Church, Margao and a distinguished sportsman, along with other guests including Sudin Verenkar (president, GTTA), Santosh Verenkar (tournament director), and Deepak Chodankar (chief referee).
In the U-11 girls final, Sachi Dessai beat Inara D’Souza 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-3) and in the boys category, Yug Prabhu beat Kavish Dalvi 3-0 (11-6, 11-7, 11-6).
In the U-13 girls final, Ishita Colaso beat Aayushi Amonkar 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-6) while in the boys category, Chandan Caro beat Dhruva Kamat 3-0 (11-3, 11-8, 11-5).
In the U-15 girls final, Pradnya Caro beat Neeza Kamat 3-1 (9-11, 11-2, 11-9, 13-11) will in the boys final, Chandan Caro beat Dhruva Kamat 3-0 (11-6, 11-1, 11-9).
In the U-19 girls final, Pradnya Caro beat Ishita Colaso 3-1 (11-8, 12-10, 7-11, 12-10) while in the boys final Aaron Farias beat Chandan Caro 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-9).
