MURIDA-FATORDA: Chandor Club defeated Sao Jose de Areal 5-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Bro Eulalio Vas Memorial football tournament, at DBO ground, Murida-Fatorda, on Friday.
Areal strikers Listen D’Costa and Marcus Mascarenhas missed chances to score in the third and sixth minutes respectively.
Chandor strikers Louie Noronha and Moses D’Sa also missed chances in the ninth and 12th minutes respectively.
A tricky move by Chandor’s Moses D Sa was connected well by Richard D’Sa who took a power-packed shot which got deflected off Areal defender Nevil Fernandes and landed into the Areal net in the 14th minute.
As the match progressed, in the 46th minute, Areal’s Listen D’Costa’s long range shot was timely saved by the Chandor keeper. Chandor’s Richard D Sa’s shot was saved by Areal keeper Aggio Antao.
In the 48th minute, Areal’s Clifford Soares’ move should have found the ball at the back of the net but hit the Chandor cross bar in the 50th minute.
Later, a header by Areal’s Ignatius Oliveira was palmed away to safety by Chandor keeper off a cross by Listen.
Nevil and Monty of Areal missed golden chances to score inside Chandor box as on both occasions the Chandor keeper palmed the ball away to safety.
Nevil Fernandes took a glancing header and equalised 1-1 for Areal off alone cross of Melisho Camatio just two minutes before the final whistle.
In the tie-breaker, Chandor Club netted through Joaquin Carvalho, Ifran Yadwad, Safik Shaikh and Daniel D,Costa while Bersel Viegas and Aliston Camitio netted for Sao Jose de Areal.
Chandor Club will now meet Dicarpale SC in the final.
