DAVORLIM: Chandor Sports Club thumped Cuncolim Union 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the 12th Davorlim Cup All-Goa football tournament, organized by Davorlim SC, at Davorlim Panchayat ground, on Thursday.
Chandor SC dominated the proceedings in both the sessions. They took the lead through Benson Fernandes in the 11th minute through a rasping shot after an assist by Joseph Fernandes.
Sanford Fernandes of Cuncolim Union tried to fight back for his team but a rival defender left him frustrated with a timely tackle in the 18th minute.
At the other end, Chandor SC upped the pace and made it 2-0 through Joseph Fernandes’ deft placement after being fed by Benson in the 44th minute.
Crossing over, Cuncolim Union through Cyril Barretto squandered a golden opportunity as Cyril shot blindly into the hands of the Chandor SC goalkeeper.
Chandor SC made it 3-0 through Moses D’Silva in the 55th minute.
