MAPUSA/RAIA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh drubbed A A De Moira 4-0 in the GFA’s Division I League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
Chapora YS would have taken the lead in the 16th minute but a close header by Sachidanand off Cyprian Rodrigues cross was saved by AA De Moira goalkeeper Moin Mansuri. Six minutes later, another thundering 30-yard shot by Ronaldo Pereira was swayed over the horizontal crossbar by the AA De Moira goalkeeper.
At the other end, AA De Moira colts would have taken the lead where a stiff grounder by Mohit Santondekar was blocked by Chapora YS’s defender Joaquim Carvalho and the ball rolled to striker Anantha Krishna, whose strike at the first post was paired for a corner by Chapora Yuvak Sangh’s custodian Glen Fernandes.
Finally, Chapora YS colts opened their account where Sachidanand Satelkar sent a perfect cross to Ronaldo Pereira, who controlled the ball and slammed the ball into the goal 1-0.
In the 41st minute, Chapora YS further increased their lead where a long floater by skipper Aniket Naik dipped into the far corner of the goal, 2-0. On resumption of play, Chapora YS colts carried on their onslaught but Cyprian Rodrigues saw two of his attempts being saved by AA De Moira’s goalkeeper.
In the 77th and 95th minutes, Chapora YS pumped in two more goals through Saimesh Gaonkar and Sachidanand Satelkar both from outside the penalty box 4-0.
At Santa Cruz ground, Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao registered a thumping 5-1 win over CDJ Ribandar.
Kenny Rodrigues netted a brace in the first session.
On crossing over, Niyaz Tambak scored a hat-trick for Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao side, while Anish Kholkar managed to net the consolation goal for CDJ Ribandar.
Cuncolim Union edged past Nuvem Sports Club 4-1 at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday. Cuncolim Union netted a brace each through Adarsh Raj and Arun Naik. For Nuvem SC, Darwin Colaco netted a goal.
In another match played at Cansaulim Sports Stadium, Dempo SC (Jrs) moved past Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 2-1. Swavel Cristiano Furtado netted a brace for Dempo SC (Jrs), while Semson Fernandes netted a goal for SCC Cavelossim.
