Chapora Yuvak Sangh enter GFA’s 3rd Division play-off final

MAPUSA: Ten-men Chapora Yuvak Sangh registered a thumping 6-1 win over ABC Arambol to enter the final of the GFA’s 3rd Division playoff, at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Chapora led 2-1 at half time with Nehal Parsekar and Marvoti Horizon doing the major damage scoring two goals each.
Chapora opened the scoring in the eighth minute when a long floater by Pundalik Naik saw Arambol keeper Aniket Gadekar misjudge the flight of the ball which entered the net to give his side the lead.
Nehal Parsekar doubled the lead in the 23rd minute with a deft placement after some good work by Chapora’s Pundalik Naik.
Chapora were looking menacing and should have had their third goal a minute later when Marvoti Horizon disposed Arambol defender but could not get the better of Arambol keeper from close range.
Chapora received a double blow before the breather, first Navin Shirodkar was giving the marching orders in the 35th minute for double bookings (hand balls).
Then in the 45th minute, Arambol sneaked in a goal when a dangerous cross whipped into the box by Manuel Rodrigues found Cyprian Rodrigues whose fierce header had no answer to the Chapora keeper.
Changing ends, Arambol who had shown great desire to get back in the match in the first session just did not turn up in the second session and were completely torn apart by Chapora who fired four goals to seal the tie.
Stephen made it 3-1 with the easiest of tap-in from a rebound off a free-kick by Vinayak which ricocheted of the Arambol’s goal post.
Marvoti Horizon also got on the score sheet for Chapora netting two goals while Nehal Parsekar completed his brace to round up the score tally to 6 -1.
Marvoti Horizon received the man-of-the-match award for his outstanding performance.
