Chetan emerges chess champ

PANJIM: Chetan Babuso Kurtikar (6/6) won the A-R tuition Classes Rapid Chess tournament organised by A-R Tuition Classes, Curti, in Association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association for tuition students and Ajinkya Chess Academy players.

Rupam Rajendra Gaude (5/6) and Rohit Gaude (4.5/6) secured the second and third place respectively. On tie-breaker, fourth to sixth places were secured by Vedant Priolkar (4/6), Shubham Gaude  (4/6)  and 7-year-old Tansh pramod Gaude of Ajinkya Chess Academy (4/6).

Promising player prizes were given to Shradha Gaude,  academy player Dattey Kurtikar and Aarush Gaude of A-R Tuition Classes.

Chief guest Dr Pinak Prabhu Dessai gave away the prizes in the presence of Siddesh Kerkar, Santosh Gaude, Diptesh Kurtikar, Assistant Arbiter Harsh Kurtikar and Vilas Palkar (PE teacher of Vidhya Prabodhini Higher Secondary). 

Encoring was done by Anand Kurtikar, executive committee member of Ponda Taluka Chess Association and proprietor of A-R Tuition Classes. In all, 30 students participated.
