CHICALIM: Strong contenders Chicalim Youth Club huffed and puffed to overcome Chicalim Sports Club 1-0 in the Mormugao Zone GFA’s 3rd Division League, at Chicalim Panchayat ground, Chicalim.
Chicalim YC were leading 1-0 at half-time.
Chicalim YC shot into the lead early in the first half of a corner kick taken by Joclern Mesquita and medio Sushant Borker was at hand to score which turned out to be the match winner.
The ball travelled from one end to the other but wayward shooting and good goalkeeping kept the score board 1-0 at half time.
In the second half, Chicalim SC did make an attempt to equalize but they were denied by some robust defending by Chicalim YC skipper Jose Rodrigues and some excellent goalkeeping by Sumeen Borker.
In the dying minutes, Chicalim YC came agonizingly close to scoring but first Babu’s header was brilliantly saved by Borker and then Drupesh saw his well taken shot kissing the crossbar.
