A late strike by Carlos Landez helped Chicalim Youth Club to beat Spirited Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 1-0 and march into the finals of Chandor Seamen Cup football tournament organised by Chandor Club at Chandor ground, on Sunday.
Areal dominated the exchanges but could not score. Crossing over, Areal held sway again but a goal eluded them.
With the match heading for the tie-breaker, Chicalim struck the match-winner through Carlos Landez.
Chicalim Youth Club will meet Wilred Leisure Sports Club in the finals.
Yesterday, a fine hat-trick by striker Sertorio Monteiro helped Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim crush Cuncolim Union 4-0 to storm into the finals. They led 3-0 at the breather.
Wilred Leisure dominated the proceedings right from the start and did not allow their rivals to settle down to their rhythm.
Striker Sertorio who was a thorn in the rival defence, single handedly demolished the rival defence as he struck twice in the opening session to hold the complete sway over their rivals and out played them in all the departments of the game.
At the other end, Cuncolim failed to combine as a cohesive unit.
Crossing over, Wilred Leisure performed at a leisurely pace and their forwards did not lose their appetite for goals with Agnelo Martins putting the last nail into the rival’s coffin.
