MAPUSA: Chowgule Warriors registered a thrilling one run victory to break Sarvodaya Royals’ three match unbeaten streak in Goa Cricket Association’s (GCA) Goa Professional League two-day test match at GCA ground, Porvorim, Wednesday.
Sarvodaya Royals had already booked their berth in the finals alongwith Salgaocar SC. Sarvodaya resumed day two on 39/1, needing 302 runs with nine wickets in hand. Opener Prashant Gupta went on to score 92 runs out of 142 balls while Rohit Naik (59), Ilyas Naroo (42) and Robin D’Souza (73) made some vital contributions with the bat but in the end, Sarvoday were bundled out in the 82.4 over, falling short by a run. Amit Yadav was the most impressive bowler for Chowgule, clinching five wickets while Ali Murtaza (2) and a wicket each by Kshemal Waigankar and Rajat Paliwal also proved important. The finals between Sarvodaya and Salgaocar will be held on May 9,10 and 11 at the same venue.
