PANJIM, SEPT 24
Chirag United take on Churchill Bros in the last crucial Group B Federation quarter-final league match at Tilak Maidan, Vasco on Saturday. Both teams are in the race for a semi-final berth.
Churchill as well as Chirag have four points each with the Goa team enjoying a superior goal difference of plus 4 to plus 1 of Chirag.
Chirag will look for an outright victory tomorrow while a draw will see Churchill through on goal difference.
Chirag struggled against Sesa in the opening match to win 1-0. Yesterday, they were lucky to hold Viva Kerala 2-2.
Chirag have not been impressive while Churchill (4-0 against Viva Kerala and 1-1 against Sesa FA) will have to raise their game and see that the midfielders work overtime with better coordination with the strikers, the in-form Odafa and new acquisition Koko Sakibo.
Churchill Bros coach Vincent Subramanian will also have to see that the defence does not crumble and that the players show the right enthusiasm and above all give their best, exerting to the maximum.
“We have the advantage on our side as we need a draw to advance. So our first priority is to guard our fort and then attack. Hopefully our boys will play to a plan and win tomorrow,” said Subramanian
