VASCO, SEPT 21
Churchill Brothers scored an easy 4-0 win against Viva Kerala in 32nd Federation Cup at Tilak Maidan, here on Tuesday. They led 1-0 at the break.
Odafa Onyeka Okolie scored a brace while former Vasco star striker Koko Sakibo and new signing Iranian Rouhollah Samieinia scored the other goals.
Churchill scored a big win but there was no class in their play.
Koko Sakibo scored the opener in the 39th but thereafter Churchill looked llike struggling. Viva Kerala felt that Koko was off-side.
Odafa doubled the lead in the 57th minute when he was brought down by Viva skipper Bello Rasaq in the box and Odafa scored with ease.
Eight minutes later, off a free kick from Khan Thank Paite, Odafa struck a power-packed shot.
The fourth goal in the 75th minute was an impressive one as it resulted from a coordinated effort. Koko put Rouhollah Samieinia and the last named sent in a power packed shot.
Earlier, Kerala’s K Kulthungan missed to score.
“It’s a good start. But we need to raise our game with coordinated moves,” said Churchill coach Vincent Subramaniam. “The absence of our key players, who are on National duty for Asian Cup is being felt,” Subramaniam added.
“We had hardly any practice season, as we begun our preparations barely 10 days back,” said Viva Kerala coach A M Sreedharan. He lashed out at the referee for his blunder in allowing the first goal.
