PANJIM: Churchill Brothers Sports Club and Vasco Sports Club match ended in a goalless draw in the 14th round of GFA’s Pro League at panchayat ground, Raia on Sunday.
The result was not what they hoped for the tie. It was other wise, a disappointing day for Churchill Brothers as Kamaldeep Singh’s spot kick in the injury time was saved by substitute goalkeeper Shilton Fernandes to deny Churchill Brothers full three points.
Vasco SC had a wonderful start when substitute striker Agnelo D’Souza’s snap shot was well saved by Churchill Brothers SC custodian Aliston Fernandes.
At the other hand, Churchill Brothers almost broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when attacking midfielder Seriton Fernandes unleashed a volley which was well taken care by Vasco SC goalkeeper Jerson Pereira.
Thereafter, Vasco SC likely to threaten the rival goal. However, Agnelo D’Souza were unlucky as his rasping shot hit the post much to the dismay of Vasco SC supporters. Earlier, Vasco SC goalkeeper Jerson Pereira was got injured by collecting the rasping shot from Kamaldeep Singh and was carried in the Ambulance to the hospital and was later discharged after receiving the first aid.
In the second half, the teams also failed to score.
With this draw, Churchill Brothers collected 27 points from 14 matches while Vasco SC stayed with 16 points from same encounter.
