MAPUSA: AA de Moira scored a hard fought 5-4 win over Candolim SC via tie-breaker in the semi-final of the GFA’s Third Division Play-Offs, at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
AA de Moira went into the breather with a one goal lead.
Both the teams displayed some midfield soccer for the first quarter of the match with moves few and far between.
It was AA de Moira who took the lead in the 19th minute of play when Siddesh Kesarkar sent a lovely through ball to Shekar Kerkar, whose powerful volley from outside the 18-yard box crashed into the Candolim nylons, leaving the keeper Marshal rooted to his spot.
Crossing over, Candolim tried their level best to get back into the match and were successful in the 78th minute of play, when AA de Moira keeper Agustine fumbled in collecting Ashley’s feeble attempt at the goal, where Bappu Pednekar, who was lurking nearby took full advantage of the situation and drilled the ball home, 1-1.
With both the teams locked in a 1-1 draw the tie-breaker was implemented where David, Shawyn, Saddam and Augustine scored for AA de Moira while Ashley, Charles and Gauresh were on target for Candolim.
