MARGAO: Connie Enterprises (Mungul Veterans) edged past Nuvem Veterans 1-0 to romp into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Navelim Veterans football tournament organized by Navelim Veterans at Rosary ground, Navelim, Tuesday.
The match was played at a brisk pace as a result there were plenty of thrills. As the match progressed, Connie took control of the match and created forays into the rival territory and their efforts materialized when Brian Fernandes’ stiff shot crashed into the net in the 15th minute.
Down by 0-1, Nuvem went all-out in search of the equalizer but failed to get past the rival defence.
Crossing over, Connie held a slight edge over their opponents and created a number forays but were denied by the rival defenders.
Nuvem also had a number of scoring chances but their forwards muffed sitters.
