CSM Taleigao, Ambelim up

PANJIM: Ambelim Sports Club defeated Mormugao United Cultural Sports Club 6-5 vie tie-breaker to advance into the 38th St Joseph football festival organized by Dramapur Sports Club, at Dramapur ground, on Sunday.
The first half was barren with both the teams failing to score. The teams had equal exchanges and the fast paced match saw some good moves. Richard Fernandes of Ambelim had an opportunity to score in the 21st minute but his header hit the crossbar. 
Crossing over, Mormugao United shot into the lead in the 31st minute through Lloyd Rebello, who chested a loose ball into the net with the Ambelim goalkeeper out of position. 
The match upped the pace with Ambelim making a determined effort to find the equalizer. Their efforts bore fruit when Quenston Dias scored in the 39th minute through a powerful right-footer that landed in the middle of the net with the goalkeeper a spectator.
At full time, the score remained 1-1. In the resultant tie-breaker, Michail Silva, Quenston Dias, Prinson Fernandes, Richard Fernandes and Benny Fernandes scored for Ambelim while Basurajan Harijan, Tanvir Bepari, Saviour Gama and Paulo Sequeira scored for Mormugao United.
In another match, Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao were awarded a walkover when the Arlem Sports Club team failed to report.
