Taleigao started attackingly right from the start but Ramesh Palkar’s powerful grounder was saved by the goalkeeper of Varca SC.
However, Taleigao surged ahead through Gautam Kankonkar, whose power-packed shot crashed into the rival nylons off an assist by Cedric Piexeito.
Varca responded quickly and equalized in the 12th minute through Nash Pereira’s deft placement off a supply by Velroy Rodrigues.
Just before the lemon break, Taleigao scored their second through Cedric off an assist by Jayandra Kunkolikar.
Changing sides, Taleigao dominated the proceedings with their strikers trying to score more goals but their shots were mostly off target and Varca’s moves were foiled by the defence of Taleigao.
Eventually, Taleigao launched quick attacks through Cedric’s header and Ramesh’s effort.
Taleigao finally made it 3-1 when Jayandra found the target from an ideal position off a supply from Gautam.
