PANJIM: Cumborda outplayed Bhatti 3-1 in the finals to clinch the first Vicente memorial football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
Cumborda opened the scoring through Myrick Hilario in the 14 minute. Soon they doubled the lead through Mackson Fernandes in the 20 minute.
Bhatti scored a goal through a self-goal by Cumborda defender Myrick to make it 1-2, nearing end of the first half.
In second half, Cumborda scored the third goal through Mackson Fernandes in 55th minute to make 3-1.
Fr Manuel Dias, Parish Priest of St Alex Church, Curtorim, was the chief guest while Fr Milagres Dias, Chaplain of Our Lady of Carmel Chapel, was the guest of honour. Alex Dias, Clarina Fernandes and Cajie Rodrigues were the other dignitaries.
Savio Fernandes, president of Curtorim Gymkhana welcomed the guest and James D’Costa gave a vote of thanks. On the occasion, Curtorim Gymkhana felicitated three players — Player of the Year 2022-23 Vicky Cardozo (action) for outstanding performance in the First Division League and inter-village matches; Emerging player of the year 2022- 23 Afileo Fernandes; Anslem Fernandes for Outstanding Performance in GFA U-15 league.
