RAIA: Cumborda Sports Club blanked Paldem Sports Club 2-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of Batora United 9-a-side football tournament organised by Batora United at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
The match started on fast pace and Paldem SC had the first opportunity to take the lead but Seby Carvalho’s powerful shoot from the box was punched away by Cumborda SC goalkeeper Johnson Bagot in the 5th minute of play. Velzino of Cumborda SC header missed the target by whiskers in the 15th minute of play. Later, Mackson of Cumborda SC penetrated the defence and goalkeeper placed the ball in the open net in the 28th minute.

Changing ends, Paldem SC tried to find the equaliser and the kept pressure on Cumborda SC defence through Ansley D’Cunha and Peter D’Cunha but couldn’t broke the defence.
Cumborda SC scored another goal through Veron in the 40th minute with a neat placement. Paldem SC had the ample of opportunities but their forwards failed to capitalise on their chances they got. Cumborda SC kept the lead till the final whistle.
Ansley D’Cunha of Paldem Sports Club was declared the man-of-the-match award by Zefri Colaco, Batora United club member.
