NUVEM: Cuncolim Union got the better of St Anthony SC Colva 4-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the 5th Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Parish Youth Nuvem and played at Jesus Mary Joseph Church ground, Nuvem, on Monday.
Cuncolim Union opened the scoring through Rosario Carvalho in the tenth minute but the joy was short-lived as Colva equalised through Baptist Fernandes in the 19th minute. Cuncolim’s Wellington D’Souza scored two quick goals in the 31st and 35th minutes. Baptist Fernandes of Colva made it 2-3 in the 39th minute.
Just one minute left for the final whistle, Vishnu Naik made it 4-2.
Today’s match: Parish Youth Nuvem v. Cortalim Villagers, at 4.30 p.m.
