FATORDA: Cuncolim Union scored a hard fought 3-1 win over St Savio SC in the Geno First Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), at Artificial Turf, Fatorda on Thursday.
The game witnessed an equal play with both teams vying for the ball from the word go however it was Frazer Fernandes who opened the scoring for the Cuncolim side in the 31st minute. Frazer shot from the top of the box wherein the keeper failed to collect the ball, resulting in the ball bouncing into the goal making it 1-0.
But their joy was short lived as St. Savio SC came out with the equaliser two minutes later after they won a corner Shashank Naik’s strike rolled off into the goal after the rival defender failed to clear the danger, 1-1.
The Cuncolim side, were not looking to give up as Somanth Patil gave his side the lead once again in the 36th minute.
Cuncolim Union went into the breather with an upper hand as the scores read 2-1 in their favour.
Later, Sangam Gaonkar added another goal in the final minutes of the game for Cuncolim Union to take home all points.
