FATORDA: Cuncolim Union continued their impressive run in the campaign as they thumped Holy Cross SC Arambol 4-0 in the Goa Football Association’s Geno First Division League in association with Jhoncy Restaurant, Benaulim played at Artificial Turf Fatorda on Saturday.
With this win the Cuncolim side registered their second win after they initially beat Goa Velha SC 1-0 while for the Arambol side it was a straight second defeat after they lost 6-2 in the opening game to A.A de Moira.
The first half witnessed both teams play out an equal game as they both came out with stringent attacks but neither of the teams managed to break the deadlock in the first session.
On changing sides, Cuncolim Union were the first to look at goal as Souman Majumder’s fine strike eased past the Arambol keeper to make it 1-0 in the 52nd minute.
Nothing seemed to have been working for the Arambol side as they went on to concede two more goals. This time Neceil Pinto’s brace made it 3-0 as he netted in two goals in the 72nd and 85th minutes respectively.
Shubham Malvankar went on to add further damage onto the opponents as he scored the fourth goal for the Cuncolim side in the final additional time (90+2).
