MARGAO: Curchorem Gymkhana rounded Ghumteshwar Warriors by 17 runs to emerge champions of Patrakar Chashak T-20 cricket tournament, organized by Quepem-Sanguem taluka Patrkar Sanghtana, at SAG ground, Curchorem, on Wednesday.
Curchorem Gymkhana batted first and scored 169 for 8 in allotted 20 overs with Satyen Belekar top scored with 62 runs.
In reply, Ghumteshwar Warriors scored 152 for 8 in 20 overs. Curchorem Gymkhana were richer by 30,000 and a trophy while Ghumteshwar Warriors had to be content with a purse of Rs 20,000.Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
Scores in brief: Curchorem Gymkhana, 169 for 8 in 20 overs (Satyen Belekar 62, Vaibhav Govekar 23, Achit Shigwan 18 runs. Darshan Misal 2-45, Avdhoot Amonkar 2-14, Dashrath Dhotre 1-16) beat Ghumteshwar Warriors, 152 for 8 in 20 overs (Amar Arkas 33, Vikas Desai 30, Darshan Misal 27 runs. Suyash Prabhu Desai 2-29, Achit Shigwan 2-29, Siddhesh Verekar 2-30).
Individual prizes were awarded to man-of-the-final Satyen Belekar (Curchorem Gymkhana), Best batsman of the tournament Chandrakant Ghadi (Goa Police), Best bowler Siddhesh Verenkar (Curchorem Gymkhana), Man-of-the-tournament Vaibhav Govekar (Curchorem Gymkhana).
