MARGAO: Hosts Curtorim Gymkhana trounced Cuncolim Union 5-2 to storm into the semi-finals of All-Goa Curtorim Gymkhana Golden Jubilee Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Curtorim Gymkhana, at church ground, Curtorim, on Sunday. The teams were tied 1-1 at the lemon break.
Cuncolim Union stunned their opponents with a goal in the 12th minute through striker Daulat Dessai.
Unfazed, Curtorim Gymkhana equalized in the 23rd minute as Sertorio Monteiro scored with a stiff grounder.
Post resumption, striker Milagres Feranndes who played a stellar role for Curtorim Gymkhana, scored the second goal. In the 42nd minute, Diego Vaz put the issue beyond doubt.
After taking 3-1 lead, Curtorim Gymkhana slackened their pace and allowed Cuncolim Union to pull a goal back through Daulat Dessai.
In the final minutes, Jose Castanha increased the tally while Roy Albuquerque drove the last nail into the rival coffin.
