CARMONA: Curtorim Gymkhana emerged winners of the Carmona village Panchayat cup organised by Carmona Sports Club played at Panchayat Ground, Carmona by defeating Navelim villagers union 9-8 via tie breaker.
In a fast paced duel, Curtorim scored first in the very third minute through Nalister Silveira leading 1-0 at half time.
In the second half, Navelim played their hearts out and managed to restore parity in the 44th minute with Clinton Niasso being the scorer. Both teams tried their best but both teams failed to Score in the normal time.
In the tie-breaker Curtorim scored through Nalister, Jovel Martins, James Fernandes, Allston Fernandes, Vicky Cardoso, Milagris, Cajy, Myson and Manuel Castana while Clinton Niasso, Aulon Gomes, Terence Miranda, Velintion D’Silva, Premax, Myron and Prestly scored for Navelim.
The following prizes were awarded first scorer of finals Nalister Silveira. Best defender Myson Fernandes of Curtorim. Best goalkeeper Jeet Gupta.
The winners were awarded 45,000 plus trophy while Runners up were awarded Rs 35,000 plus trophy.
Fr Roland Carvalho Parish Priest of Carmona Church was the chief guest. Savio Alemao social worker was the guest of honour.
