MARGAO: A goal each from Maclon Colaco and substitute Clinton Niasso helped Sporting Club of Davorlim to register a fluent 2-0 win over CRC, Chinchinim and march into the semi-finals of All-Goa Vodafone inter-village football tournament organized by Colmorod Ratvado Sports Club at Rosary ground, Navelim, Thursday. There was no score at the lemon break.

The teams displayed attacking football. As the match progressed, Davorlim took over with midfielder Venson Figueredo and striker Macklon Colaco working in tandem to put the rival defence under tremendous pressure.

On the other hand, CRC were handicapped by the absence of Fernandes Brothers – Jolex and Jaorax. Even then, they sounded a warning when striker Dickson Rebello’s rasping shot missed the mark narrowly.

Sporting hit back but Macklon Colaco’s sanp shot was blocked by CRC goalkeeper David Rebello.

This served as a wake up call for CRC which counter-attacked and midfielder Tunard Fernandes’ stiff shot missed the mark  by a few inches.

Post resumption, Davorlim put up a better display and nearly broke the deadlock as striker Maclon Colaco let go a stiff grounder which was taken care of by goalkeeper David Rebello.

The CRC citadel fell in the 50th minute when striker Maclon outpaced his marker and unleashed a snap shot which beat the goalkeeper David Rebello.

Stung by the setback, CRC tried their best to neutralize the lead but Dickson Rebello’s feeble shot went into the hands of the rival goalkeeper.

Sporting consolidated the lead in the 59th minute when substitute Clinton Niasso bulged the net off Venson Figueiredo.
